Willard Warren Tomlinson

Tomlinson Willard Willard Warren Tomlinson, Jr. died Tuesday, June 11, 2013, after a long illness. He was born July, 7, 1932 to Willard W. and Maxine Owens in Charleston, WV. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Mary Alice Moseley; brother, Anthony and wife, Dianna; sister, Sara and husband, Michael Shipman; brother-in-law, Lewis Moseley. Children, Alice and husband Paul Grim; Richard and wife Candie Tomlinson; Rachel and husband Owen Slater; and his grandchildren Nathan, Natalie, Anna, Carrie, Nicola, and Alexander.

 A 1950 graduate of Charleston Catholic High School, Warren attended WVU and in 1952 was drafted into the army where he served in the 98th MP Battalion, Shimabuka, Okinawa. He graduated with a BA degree from Marshall College Huntington, WV in 1957 and was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

The family lived in Roanoke for many years. He was owner and president of Tomlinson Fire Protection. In 1998 he retired to Bedford, VA. Warren always had a quiet but strong understanding that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Burch- Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford. A funeral Mass will be said 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at St. Thomas of Canterbury ACC, Roanoke. Burial will follow in Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin, VA on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to the Women of St. Thomas, 4910 Hubert Road, NW, Roanoke, VA 24012. Juanita St. Clair "Corky" Wheeler

Wheeler JuanitaJuanita St.Clair “Corky” Wheeler, 84, of the Shady Grove community passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013. She was cared for in her home, as that was her final wishes and was surrounded by her family and friends. Born July 14, 1928, she was the youngest daughter of Solomon C. B. & Eula White St. Clair who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by 9 of her sisters, Geneva Tench, Gloria Matthews, Leona Bonjonia, Imo Tyler, Virginia Norman, Mary Whitmore, Mirla Bonjonia, Pauline Fletcher & Shirley Burnette.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lynwood H. (Jack) Wheeler and their children, Dale C.Wheeler, Jane Moore & husband JT, and David Wheeler. Also survived by her grandchildren, Shane Wheeler, Christina Wheeler, John Moore & wife Jessica, Jenny Moore and Gabriel Wheeler. She is survived by one sister, Lucille Caniff, her nephew Berkley Matthews & nieces Connie Scarrow & Nancy Falwell plus numerous cousins, brothers in law, sisters in law and many special friends.

Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 16 years, was a member of the WMU. For over 10 years she quilted with the WMU ladies. She and her husband served as managers of the Shady Grove Cemetery. She was also a Support Member of the Shady Grove Fire & Rescue 
helping to bring that service into the community as well as working bake sales or selling raffle tickets on the quilts she had helped make to raise funds for the unit.

Mrs. Wheeler held a wealth of information on the St.Clair, Wheeler & White genealogies and could always give you a detailed description of who's related to whom in any family in the local area. We often joked that she could figure a way in which everyone was related to everyone.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mitchell and Rev. Jesse Chance officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burch-Messier Funeral Home, (Main Street Location) 317 W. Main Street, Bedford. While flowers are appreciated, please consider making a donation to Shady Grove Fire & Rescue in her memory.

The family would like to thank everyone who has helped with her care over the past few months.Whether you took time to come sit with her during the day, prepared food or stopped by for a short visit, it was greatly appreciated. Nancy Sue Jenkins Toms

Toms NancyNancy Sue Jenkins Toms, 69, of Bedford, died Sunday, June 9, 2013. She was born in Bedford County on June 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Ernest Benjamin Jenkins and Martha Krantz Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Burkley Steveins Jenkins. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Curtis Wendell Toms, Sr. and by her children Danna Crystal Toms Lowe; Rocky Lowe; Donna Sue Toms Gish and husband, Mark, Sr.; Deborah Lynne Toms Smith and husband, Ricky; Curtis Wendall Toms, Jr. and wife, Lisa. She is also survived by her grandchildren Laura Nash, Roxy Lowe, Mark Gish, Jr., Sgt. Christopher Gish, Rachel Gish, Micah Gish, Robert Smith, Codey Toms, and Cheyanne Toms as well as her great-grandchildren Savannah, Lincoln, Hailee, Aiden, Evelyn, Grayson, and Sarge; her brother, Benjamin Rucker Jenkins and wife, Faye; and numerous friends and coworkers. She was retired from Woodhaven Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to Burch-Messier Funeral Home for Nancy Toms. A funeral service will be held Friday 11pm  at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, Bedford,  with Rev. Walter Beasley officiating.Burial will follow in the Mt. Daniel Henry Reichard, Sr.

Daniel Henry Reichard, Sr., 85, of Moneta, died Friday, June 7, 2013 at Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born in Lynchburg on April 10, 1928 a son of the late William Thomas Reichard, Sr. and Iona Nash Reichard.   In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He was owner and operator of Reichard Graphics in Madison Heights.   He was a United States Coast Guard during the World War II and one of the founding members of Resurrection Catholic Church in Moneta. He was a Boy Scout Troop Leader for many years and a Past President of the Moneta Lions Club. Leaving to cherish his memory, wife of 64 years, Joan O’Connor Reichard; two sons, Dan Reichard, Jr. and wife, Shelley; Steve Reichard and wife, Dixie; two daughters, Kathy Reichard and Sharon Reichard; Six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Resurrection Catholic Church, 15353 Moneta Rd. Moneta, VA 24121 with Deacon Chris Barrett officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 2 hours prior to the service. His cremated remains will be buried in Resurrection Catholic Church Cemetery immediately following the service.
