Sarah Ann Overstreet Parker

Parker Sarah 1Heaven called for an angel and our wife/mother answered. Sarah Ann Overstreet Parker passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 13, 2018. She is survived by her husband, Dan Parker to whom she was married for 65 years. She was the daughter of Rufus and Verna (Orange) Overstreet. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Connie Parker, and her son-in-law, Gary Davidson and sister, Carol Stanley. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her devoted son and daughter, Dennis Parker (Brenda) and Patricia (Tricia) Davidson; her grandchildren, Joshua Parker (Sarah), Amy Proffitt (Brandon), Jennifer Mixon (Jeremy); her great grandchildren, Brandon Lewis, Graylee, Parker, Rylea, Madyson, Scarlett, and River. These 7 were the light of her life. She is survived by many loving cousins; faithful friends; an aunt, Eddie Starbuck; and an uncle, Leslie Orange. She will always be remembered for her wittiness and laughter and her love for family and friends. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, at Thaxton Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. In lieu of flowers please consider Centra Bedford Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents, Everette Mitchell Caulder and Minnie Powers Caulder; sisters, Mozelle C. Foust, Beulah C. Thomas, Geneva C. Manning, Jean C. Holyfield; brothers, Raymond Caulder, Wesley Caulder, Pete Caulder, Bud Caulder, and Roosevelt Caulder. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Kelly Eugene Minton; daughters, Jean Nichols and friend Junior Blankenship, Lori Eggleston and husband John, Karen Carter and husband Ron, Kimberly Parker and husband Chad; son, Michael Minton; grandchildren, Dwayne Nichols and wife Lora, Derek Nichols, Stephen Crouch and wife Catie, Amanda Croft, Lance Parker, Ryan Carter; great-grandchildren, Jordan Nichols, Kindall Nichols, Corbin Carter; great-grandchild to be, Stella Crouch; special friends, James and Frances Underwood; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018, at Word of Life Evangelical Church, with Rev. Wiley Clark, Rev. David Whitehurst, and Rev. Ralph Jernigan officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 9, at the Word of Life Evangelical Church. She was born in Bedford, VA on September 30, 1964, a daughter of the late Marion Calvin Wilson and Ruth Ruff Wilson. She is survived by a daughter, Hope Jacobs Carpenter and husband Erik; a son, Mickey Jacobs; her partner, Jimmy Bryant; the father of her children, Ed Jacobs; and numerous other family and friends. Edward Eugene Davis, Jr.

Davis Edward 2Edward Eugene Davis, Jr., 78, of Bedford, died Sunday, September 2, 2018. He was born on October 7, 1939, in Summitt, NJ, a son of the late Edward Eugene Davis, Sr. and Josephine Calloway Davis. Edward was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Holdren Davis; sons, Edward Davis, Timothy Searles; daughters, Pamela and Karen Davis, Michele Searles, Carmen Mawyer, and Karla Powell; and thirteen grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 6:00 p.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford, with Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. Ada Elizabeth "Betty" Perry Good

Good Ada ElizabethAda Elizabeth (Betty) Perry Good, age 98, passed away surrounded by her family on August 25, 2018. She was born on December 17, 1919, in Bedford, Virginia to Edward Judson Perry and Carrie Ada (Holland) Perry. Betty’s early education took place in a one-room schoolhouse in Bedford County. Later she went on to graduate from high school in Richmond, Virginia. On November 4, 1940, Betty married Thomas Luther Good, Jr. of Staunton, Virginia. While living in Silver Spring, Maryland, Betty worked as a library aide until her retirement. In her later years, she resided at the Elks National Home (the first woman to live in the facility) and Bedford County Nursing Home. Left to honor Betty and remember her love are two children; Barbara Sue Good Notarianni and John Steven Good; two grandchildren, Christina Marie Notarianni and husband Andrew Werner and Stephen Michael Notarianni and wife Jenna Wolf Notarianni; and three great grandchildren, Henry Townsend Werner, Caroline McCarty Werner, and Eve Elizabeth Notarianni. She was born in Moneta, VA on July 11, 1932, a daughter of the late Nicholas Hammond Robertson and Virginia Saunders Wickham. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Randolph Peyton Watson; and her step-father, William Wickham. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church. Gladys is survived by her son, Thomas “Tommy” Watson and wife, Cathy; granddaughters, Angela Diane Sheriff and husband Brandon, Elizabeth Ann Watson; and brother, William “Billy” Robertson and wife Carolyn. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 28, at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Ecklund officiating. A private family burial will follow the service. She was born in Bedford on January 8, 1955, a daughter of the late Robert Jackson Pendleton and Myrtle Landsdown Pendleton. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a brother, Perry Lynn Pendleton; and brother-in-law, Bill Miller. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Kenneth Eldridge Aultice of Bedford; son, Travis Wayne Pendleton and wife, Leslie of Bedford; daughter, Syonia Marie Anderson and Woody of Montpelier, VA; grandchildren, Eli Pendleton, Alexa Anderson; brothers, Lonnie Pendleton of Johnson City, TN, Jimmy Pendleton of Moneta; sister, Patricia Miller of Moneta; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 12:00 Noon, Saturday, August 18, at Peaksview Christian Church, 1604 Moneta Road, Bedford, with Rev. Ricky St. Clair and Deena Fisher officiating. He was born in Bedford County on September 12, 1972, a son of James Wallace Overstreet and the late Mildred Dinkel Overstreet. In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by a daughter, LeAnne Caudill. He is survived by his wife, Delores Overstreet; three step-children, Jennifer Price (Mitch), Christopher Price (Heather), and Megan Hay; two grandchildren, Traci and Dallas Price; his father, James Wallace Overstreet; two brothers, James A. Overstreet (Linda), Barry Overstreet (Kathy); two sisters, Pamela Brown (Pete), Wendy Bramlett (Ronnie); and numerous nieces, nephews, and his special dog, Cheeto. Michael will be greatly missed by all those that loved him. He was born in Lynchburg, VA on November 24, 1950, a son of the late Harford Allen Burks and Alma Ethel Powell Burks. Larry is survived by his brother, Allen Burks and wife Barbara; caretaker and niece, Michelle Nicely and husband Ricky; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends. A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Big Island Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Mike Watkins officiating. Nancy Ann Charbonneau Kordos

Kordos NancyNancy Ann Charbonneau Kordos, age 76, of Lynchburg, VA, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. Born on December 11, 1941, Nan was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard Kordos; her parents, Imogene Murray and Louis Carbonneau of Detroit, MI; and sister, Judy McCormack of Oxford, MI. She is survived by daughter, Melora Kordos (David Gross) of Lynchburg, VA; and sister, Tammy Murray of Farmington Hills, MI. She grew up in in Detroit where she received her B.A. in Theatre from the University of Detroit and her M.A. in Theatre from University of Michigan. She then became reacquainted with Dick Kordos from her U of D theatre days. They began working together in Indiana at a summer stock theatre and were married a year later in 1968. Her career in the performing arts spanned almost 50 years where she was the Artistic Director of The Body Politic Theatre in Chicago and owned a film casting company, Kordos & Charbonneu Casting, for 20 years. She spent many years with The Great Books Foundation and since moving to Lynchburg in 2004, she continued directing locally. A memorial service to celebrate Nan’s life will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 6pm at The Ploghcroft Tea Room at 1215 Commerce Street, Lynchburg, VA 24504. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Richard Kordos Theatre Scholarship Fund at the Academy Center for the Arts in Lynchburg, VA. James Earl "Jimmy" Foster, 72, of Bedford, died Thursday, December 6, 2018. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford.
