Ruth Craig Fuqua

Ruth Craig Fuqua, 92, of Bedford, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital.  She was born in Bedford on December 21, 1919 to James Isaac Craig and Laura Reid Craig.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fulton Wright Fuqua and her siblings.  Ruth loved her family and church, Ephesus United Methodist Church of which she was a lifetime member.  She is survived by her daughter, Lea Simpkins and husband, Gardner Simpkins of Bedford; her grandchildren, Sydney S. Schatz (Ken); Courtney S. Garner (Denny); Hunter L. Simpkins (Patrick); two great-grandchildren, Olivia Lea Garner and Eric Ray Garner; sister-in-law, Melva F. Church; several nieces and nephews.  Memorials may be made to Ephesus United Methodist Church.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at Ephesus United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Casey officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Main Street Location, 317 W.
