Rachel Rebecca Miller Cheek

Rachel Miller Cheek, 87, of Thaxton, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Bedford Memorial Hospital.  She was born on December 3, 1923 a daughter of the late Homer Randall Miller and Annie May Redman Miller.    Rachel was retired from Rubatex and a member of Thaxton Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hershel Morgan and her second husband, Mercer Cheek; a daughter, Gloria Jean Mays; a son, Dennis Morgan; a brother, Roy J. Miller.  She is survived by a son, Larry J. Morgan; a sister, Ethel Garten; grandchildren, Mike Dobyns, Sylvia Dobyns-Griffin, Dennis W. Morgan and Danny Morgan; several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at Thaxton Baptist Church with Dr. Eldridge Cullum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Thaxton Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
