John Santamaria

John Santamaria, Sr., 102 of the Elks National Home, Bedford, VA, died Saturday, February 18, 2012.  He was born on January 6, 1910, in Pontecorvo, Italy.   He was the son of Thomas and Genny Santamaria.  John was preceded in death by his parents, wife; Anne, a daughter, Judith Doucette and granddaughter, Jill Doucette.  He is survived by two sons, John Santamaria, Jr. and his wife, Theresa of Williamsburg, VA; James F. Santamaria and his wife, Nancy of Wayland, MA; a son-in-law, Joseph Doucette of Framingham, MA; 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a dear friend, Virginia Stanley of Bedford.  A memorial Mass will be offered at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church in Bedford on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 9:00 a.m.   Interment will be held at a later date in Wayland, MA.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elks National Home Special Care Unit, 931 Ashland Ave.  Bedford, VA 24523.  The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Elks National Home Special Care Unit.  Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 317 W.
