James Lee Teass

James Lee Teass, 90, of Bedford, passed away August 13, 2011. He was born in Bedford on March 24, 1921; he spent his life working the family farm. He is survived by his beloved sister, Annie Elizabeth Teass. He also leaves behind numerous cousins and a special friend, Jean Spangler. James was preceded in death by his mother, Nannie Wells Teass and his father, Charley Teass. A lover of Mountain Music, James always shared his fond memories of hosting, Mountain Music dances at the old schoolhouse on the farm property. James was a member of the Bedford Elks Lodge and the Oddfellows. He worked part-time in sales for Blue Ridge Monument Company for many years. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 from 12 noon till 2:00 p.m. at the Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street. At 2:00 p.m. the family will then have a graveside service at the Greenwood Cemetery (across the street from the Chapel) with Rev. Tom Bryant officiating.
