Donald Wayne Murray, 64, of Bedford, died Monday, September 26, 2011 at his residence. He was born in Lynchburg on July 21, 1947 a son of the late Hugh Price Murray and Pearl Bowling Murray. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice R. Murray and a son, Carl D. (C.D.) Hardy. He is survived by three daughters, Kathy Lynn Miller and husband, Terry; Kay Johnson and husband, Wayde; and Carolyn Overstreet; a son, Preston Hardy; six grandchildren, Meredith Witt, Steven Witt, Holly Witt, Justin Miller, Jeffrey Carter and Christopher Hardy; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Severs and Joel Severs, V; two brothers, Stewart Murray and Fred Murray; a sister, Elizabeth Murray; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 29, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, September 30, 2011 at Peaks Church Community Cemetery with Rev. Jack Davis officiating. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford. |
