Cemetery and Vault General Information and Guidelines
A lot of people ask us questions about cemeteries and vaults.
#1 question Is it a state law that you have to use a vault for burial?
Answer. No, the state nor local governments require the use of a vault for burial. Vaults are only required by some cemeteries. If you have a family cemetery or a church cemetery that does not require a vault, you can bury the casket directly in the ground without purchasing a vault.
