Dawn E. McDaniel, 63, died peacefully at her home in Bedford, VA on Monday, December 16, 2013. She was born on September 10, 1950 in Auburn, NY to Robert E. and Donna (Pierce) Smith. She is survived by her husband John R. McDaniel and three children from her first marriage to Sherman A. Prince, Jr; Candace (Garry) Wigden of Keuka Park, NY, Kelly (Walter) Marz of Papillion, NE, and Nathan (Melissa) Prince from Vail, AZ, and 11 grandchildren; Rachel, Sarah, Hunter, Benjamin, Natalie, Andrew, Ethan, Caleb, Katherine, Matthew, and Jenna. She is survived by 7 siblings; Dean (Jeannette) Smith of NY, Keith (Elaine) Smith of NY, Brian (Charlene) Smith of VA, Clark (Debra) Smith of VA, Hope Mayo of NY, Faith (Robert) Howell of VA and Craig (Gina) Smith NJ. She was preceded in death by one brother; Gary (Linda) Smith of NY. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dawn is remembered for her love of the outdoors and nature, especially drives along the Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as her love of photography, biking, and crafting. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Thomas Road Baptist Church – Pate Chapel, One Mountain View Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502. The family will receive family and friends from at 10:30 a.m. just prior to the service and at 12:00 just following the service.
